北宋徽宗崇寧年間，是我國古代盛行年號(hào)錢的時(shí)代，北宋年號(hào)錢制作時(shí)間長，幾乎就貫穿了王朝的整個(gè)始末，種類繁多，鑄工精良，錢文書體豐富。幣質(zhì)有銅、鐵、銀三種，而崇寧重寶為隸書銅質(zhì)。制作精好，另外錢文所用字體乃是宋徽宗的瘦金體，鐵劃銀鉤，深具骨秀格清之氣韻，書法超妙絕倫。

此幣為崇寧重寶，正面“崇寧重寶”四字隸書對(duì)讀，字體端莊工整，結(jié)構(gòu)舒朗清骨秀格，制作精美，鑄錢驚絕，質(zhì)地厚重堅(jiān)硬，品相良好。外圓內(nèi)方，古樸方正，錢背為光背無文，包漿自然古老，錢表平整深峻，帶有斑駁綠銹，古樸盎然，歷史痕跡感強(qiáng)。錢文隸書“寧下星”，嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)莊重，法度固定，是北宋錢幣的佼佼者，是北宋重要的錢幣之一。稀世珍寶具有極高的收藏價(jià)值和觀賞價(jià)值。

崇寧重寶是北宋徽宗崇寧年間鑄造的一種重寶，和崇寧通寶并鑄發(fā)行，因兩崇寧錢文一絕，因此收到人們的喜愛。崇寧重寶錢文隸書為宰相蔡京所書，端莊穩(wěn)重，為歷代錢文隸書最美者。因山字一豎和宗字上面一點(diǎn)連接，被人說蔡京寫此崇字有意破宋，后北宋不久被金人所滅，似是冥冥中自有定數(shù)。
