文中此枚宣統(tǒng)元寶庫平七錢二分，乃是云南省造。錢幣珠圈中鈐有宣統(tǒng)元寶，珠圈外上鈐有云南省造，下鈐有庫平七錢二分，背面珠圈內(nèi)鈐有蟠龍圖，上鈐有英文云南省，下鈐有英文七錢二分幣值。蟠龍龍鱗有序，顆粒可見，龍紋細(xì)膩，龍眼凸起，炯炯有神，鼻梁俏上，威武霸氣，彰顯皇家威嚴(yán)。
1908年年底，清政府先后兩次把銀元單位問題征求全國二十四個督撫的意見。贊成“兩”單位的12人，“元”單位的9人，兩、元并用的3人。度支部主張設(shè)立幣制調(diào)查局來廣泛收集各方意見。但后因慈禧、光緒病故，政局變動，“元”單位趁亂出了頭。盛宣懷為載澤出謀：幣制尚待調(diào)查，而民生日用所需，不可一日無交易之物，可暫時先照早已通用的銀元（即龍洋）。他們還擬訂統(tǒng)一幣制辦法，由中央銀行統(tǒng)一幣制。在辦法中設(shè)計的紙幣、金幣、銀幣和鎳銅幣，完全采用西法。其中銀元分五等，一元銀幣重七錢二分。接著發(fā)動上海總商會上書清廷，強(qiáng)烈反對鑄一兩重銀幣。在內(nèi)外夾攻下，攝政王企圖行新政收買人心，令度支部再議幣制，載澤就全盤否定了兩單位。
因此，在宣統(tǒng)年代，只有七錢二分的“宣統(tǒng)元寶”銀元，而沒有一兩的“宣統(tǒng)元寶”銀元。如此看來，宣統(tǒng)元寶在推行過程中，所遇到的困難皆因當(dāng)時各省勢力為中飽私囊而導(dǎo)致其發(fā)行舉步維艱，以至于目前存世中的宣統(tǒng)元寶少之又少，在收藏品市場中成為大眾的寵兒。多數(shù)人可能這一輩子都無法親眼看到此類錢幣。古錢幣收藏的火爆熱浪總是一波接著一波向我們襲來。宣統(tǒng)元寶之所以能成為古錢幣中一大熱點。除了銀元材質(zhì)珍貴，藝術(shù)價值高，同時，宣統(tǒng)元寶銀幣制作量比古錢和民國紙幣少得多，加上清末、民國戰(zhàn)亂連連等因素，宣統(tǒng)元寶銀元存世量已稀少。
