從元釉里紅呈色上來看，主要色調是紅偏紫黑色，鮮紅者稀少，后者一般為過燒產品，因為當時燒成溫度偏低，通常都在1250度以下，根據燒煉溫度與銅紅呈色原理，元釉里紅可見銅綠色斑點，元釉里紅由于當時燒煉技術，還原氣氛的掌握程度，呈色常出現發黑、葷散，非常典型表現出元釉里紅這類特點。釉里紅是元代景德鎮窯創燒的一種釉下彩繪。釉里紅即釉下的紅色，它以氧化銅在瓷坯上著彩，然后施透明釉，1300℃還原焰燒成。但真正色彩鮮艷的極為罕見，這是因為它的制作過程復雜。這一工藝始于元代，明代達到成熟階段，清代以后，更有所發展。
