民國(guó)二十一年(1932年)中央造幣廠鑄中華民國(guó)二十一年孫中山像金本位幣壹圓銀幣，俗稱(chēng)下三鳥(niǎo)銀幣。位于上海的中央造幣廠于民國(guó)二十一年開(kāi)鑄金本位銀幣并投放市場(chǎng)流通。此幣為國(guó)民委托美國(guó)費(fèi)城造幣廠總雕刻師辛諾克（Joun Sinnock）制作。銀幣的正面中央鐫孫中山側(cè)面肖像，上環(huán)鐫“中華民國(guó)二十一年”八個(gè)漢字，銀幣背面中央鐫雙帆船航行于海面，上環(huán)鐫“金本位幣壹圓”六個(gè)字。帆船左側(cè)鐫海上日出和九條芒線，海面波浪中鐫三只低飛的海鷗。
中華民國(guó)二十一年版銀幣有著戲劇性命運(yùn)。“九·一八“事變之前，國(guó)民政府發(fā)行了民國(guó)二十一年銀元，幣面刻有一艘雙桅帆船，頂上有三只飛鳥(niǎo)，東方有一輪初升的太陽(yáng)，俗稱(chēng)“三鳥(niǎo)”。寓意“國(guó)運(yùn)”、“一帆風(fēng)順”、“旭日東升”。不料剛發(fā)行，正逢日本軍隊(duì)發(fā)動(dòng)“九·一八”事變，當(dāng)時(shí)有人把空中圖案附會(huì)為日本國(guó)正要升起，三只鳥(niǎo)被說(shuō)成是東三省要飛掉了，因此輿論嘩然，紛紛指責(zé)國(guó)民黨。政府也感到“天上的飛鳥(niǎo)是外國(guó)人的徽記，凌駕于中國(guó)帆船之上”，都認(rèn)為不妥，馬上下令收回這版銀幣，以制止謠言流傳。如此小小方圓之間，竟然蘊(yùn)藏著如此深刻的歷史內(nèi)涵。具有深遠(yuǎn)的歷史紀(jì)念意義；同時(shí)，還是考古和研究中國(guó)歷史文化難得的實(shí)物。此種銀幣存世量極為稀少，尤其是品相好的更為稀缺，因此很受錢(qián)幣收藏愛(ài)好者青睞。
