這是天下上的石隕石雨。其時共網絡到隕石標本138塊，碎塊3000余塊，總重2616公斤。其中的一塊隕石吉林1號隕石攻擊地面造成蘑菇云狀煙塵，而且砸穿凍土層，形成一個6.5米深，直徑2米的坑。這塊隕石重達1770千克，屬于H球粒隕石，該隕石呈棕玄色，上有氣印。這也是天下重的石隕石。一號隕石濺起的碎土塊遠達150米，造成的震驚相當于1.7級地 震，這個吉林隕石雨錄下來，使得吉林隕石雨的隕落有了準確的時間記錄：1976年3月8日15時2分36秒。 我國在十幾年前，鐵隕石還不被太多人知道，其價值還不太高，鐵隕石交流只在一小部分群體當中發(fā)生，那時鐵隕石的來源多出自隕石富集區(qū)或國內的有隕石墜落的地方，鐵隕石收藏群體多以求真務實純愛好收藏為主。他們能夠腳踏實地的去學好一門收藏，也能夠翻山越嶺的去尋找鐵隕石。

鐵隕石的市場價格就已經與黃金相差無幾。隨后，鐵隕石以每年30%～50%的增幅持續(xù)升值。如今最普通的鐵隕石也可以賣到每克500～600美元，稀有鐵隕石則可達到每克3000～6000美元，這個價格早已遠超黃金。如果一塊鐵隕石的構成物質經過推斷來自火星，這塊鐵隕石的價值就會飛漲。
自05年后，國內徐徐興起了一股隕石珍藏熱潮。七八年間，不僅隕石的價 格飆升，國內隕石珍藏市場也日漸成形。四五年前，隕石所帶來的經濟價值還不為人所熟知。“無人知曉、無人體貼、無人過問、無人關注”，在上世紀九十年月，全球涉足隕石交易的人僅200人左右，而現(xiàn)在加入其中的已增至萬余人。而近幾年在拍賣市場上價值上漲，買家都競相對這類天外來客抱著極大的興趣。
