程瑤笙（1869—1936），名璋，字德璋，號瑤笙。原籍安徽新安，后寓上海。初入典當(dāng)為學(xué)徒，后從湯潤之學(xué)畫。早年宗沒骨法工筆花卉，中年后改變技法，參用西畫明暗透視法，講究陰陽向背，所作形象真實(shí)生動。重寫生，又不失傳統(tǒng)筆墨韻味，色彩秾麗，構(gòu)圖別致，自創(chuàng)新貌，可謂開一代繪畫風(fēng)氣之先。擅山水、人物，特別是花鳥、走獸畫得尤為精致，他畫的猿猴形態(tài)各異，非常準(zhǔn)確生動，在近現(xiàn)代畫家中可以說無幾人能及，可惜因名氣不大，幾乎被歷史湮滅，他的藝術(shù)成就未能得后人很好的挖掘與整理。傳世作品有《貓》（藏故宮博物院），《鄉(xiāng)景圖》（藏上海博物館）等。1936年墨緣堂出版《程瑤笙畫冊》影印本，1941年商務(wù)印書館出版《程瑤笙先生遺作精品集》二冊。

他畫的魚姿態(tài)千變?nèi)f化，形神各異：有的是鯉躍龍門，有的是蓮下嬉戲，他多種手法巧妙運(yùn)用，風(fēng)格獨(dú)特，因此馳名中外。
