民國二十三年，上海中央造幣廠鑄造中華民國二十三年雙帆幣。有壹圓和中圓兩種幣值。當時銀幣已經鑄就一部分，并且已經送到中央銀行準備正式發行時，正值國民黨政府推行“法幣”政策，以中央、中國、交通三大銀行發行的紙幣為法定貨幣，白銀收歸國有，限期以法幣兌換銀幣，銀圓已不成合法流通貨幣。故雙帆幣沒有正式發行流通。中央造幣廠停鑄此幣。中央銀行將未發行的銀元退回中央造幣廠熔化，僅有數額極少的銀幣流入民間，存世極罕。
